Types of Formation provided in Nullamore

Character formation

Another characteristic of this spirit is giving personal and individual attention to everyone who participates in activities, covering all aspects of their lives, with the support and interest of his parents. It's isn't a case of just helping someone to be a good student, or a good team-player, or a person who prays - rather it's a matter of helping each individual in all aspects of his personality, so that he grows to be a Christian gentleman, a person of good character, with human virtues and a deep faith.

Spiritual and doctrinal formation

Responsibility for spiritual and doctrinal formation offered in Nullamore is entrusted to Opus Dei.

Means of formation

This formation is provided in a number of ways, principally through talks, periods of guided prayer in the oratory, and catechism classes.

The talks are short and simple, full of practical examples and anecdotes, helping the group listening to deepen their understanding of a particular aspect of the Catholic faith. The periods prayer in the oratory in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament are facilitated by the priest who is chaplain of the club, who guides the prayer of those present by offering simple and attractive insights or thoughts on a particular theme, helping them to learn how to pray and develop at their own pace their relationship with God. The catechism classes vary in depth and cover depending on the age of the participants. Most of the catechism is taught at the Juniors Club level.

In addition to the collective means of formation outlined above, the priest who is the chaplain of the centre is available for consultation and advice, as are the leaders and mentors in the clubs and study centre
